Explore the Beautiful Waters of BC This Summer

Since the days stretch longer, and the ocean temperatures are more inviting, there’s no better time to explore the incredible dive sites right in our own backyard. While international destinations often get the spotlight, British Columbia offers world-class diving that holds its own. Think kelp forests, curious octopus, and even the occasional sea lion encounter. This summer, The Diving Locker is running trips to some of BC’s most iconic local dive sites, from day safaris close to Vancouver to full-day trips to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

Whether you’re looking to shake off the cobwebs after a diving dry spell, or keep your skills sharp between bigger trips, there’s a trip for every diver this summer.

Local Dive Safaris – Explore the Magic Right in our Backyard

View Local Safari Dates »

Little known fact: You don’t have to travel far to enjoy BC’s stunning underwater scenery. Our local dive safaris are perfect for a quick weekend adventure or even a mid-week escape. These day trips include transportation, tanks, and two guided dives at some of the most accessible (and underrated) dive sites near Vancouver.

Porteau Cove

Just a short drive from Vancouver, Porteau Cove is a fantastic dive site for all experience levels. The area features a series of artificial reef structures, including sunken ships and concrete blocks that now host a thriving marine ecosystem. Expect to see rockfish, lingcod, plumose anemones, and the occasional giant Pacific octopus tucked under a ledge.

Whytecliff Park

A beloved site for many Lower Mainland divers, Whytecliff is located in West Vancouver and known for its dramatic underwater topography and abundant marine life. You might spot harbour seals or California sea lions cruising by, as well as decorator crabs, greenlings, and nudibranchs along the rocky walls. It’s also one of the few places in Canada where divers and non-divers alike can enjoy the beach in the same spot.

Kelvin Grove

Tucked away in Lions Bay, Kelvin Grove offers deeper diving with some of the most striking wall dives in the region. Right now, it’s stubby squid season, making it a great time to spot these elusive, glowing little creatures. Keep your eyes open for octopus, shrimp, and colorful sponges decorating the ledges and boulders. You can even catch one of our favourites: The grunt sculpin, a sweet little fish that scuttles along the ocean floor.

Day Trips – Explore BC’s Dive Gems

If you’re in the mood for a full day of diving and exploration, our day trips to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast are the perfect option. These trips offer a chance to explore the lesser-known treasures of the BC coast, with the convenience of knowledgeable guides, gear and transport.
