Taveuni, Fiji: A Place That Keeps Calling Us Back
There are some places you visit once and remember forever. Then there are places that somehow become a little piece
Do you feel like your daily routine has become monotonous and unfulfilling? Do you find yourself counting down the minutes until the end of the workday? Have you been searching for a change that will inject some excitement and passion back into your professional life? If you answered yes to any of these questions, it might be time to consider exploring new career opportunities and breaking free from the mundane routine of a 9-5 job. Â
If you have a love for the ocean and a passion for helping others, a career in diving could be the perfect choice. As a PADI Divemaster or Instructor, you can make a living by sharing your knowledge and skills with others. You can lead dives, teach courses, and show people the beauty and wonder of the underwater world. Being a divemaster or instructor requires dedication, training, and hard work, but for those who are committed, the rewards are endless. You’ll meet people from all over the world, be able to travel to amazing destinations, and experience the thrill of introducing others to the underwater world. If you have a desire to make a positive impact on others and the environment, one of these careers could be the perfect fit for you.
To get started, you will first need to enroll in the PADI Open Water Course. This is where you will learn and develop the foundational skills and knowledge to become a certified diver. The course includes 3 main components: theory, confined water (pool), and open water dives.
Your PADI Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide, allowing you to dive up to 60 feet (18 meters).
The next step is to take the PADI Advanced Course. During the Advanced Course you will learn new scuba diving skills, enhance your knowledge, and gain valuable experience with more complex dives in a variety of diving environments. Not only will you become a more confident and knowledgeable diver as a result of this course, but you will also be certified to dive up to 100ft/30m.
Becoming a PADI Rescue Diver is an essential next step in your diving career. This course teaches you important rescue skills that can be used in emergency situations to assist other divers or yourself. You will learn how to recognize and respond to different types of diving emergencies, including unconscious divers, distressed divers, and panicked divers, and practice rescue techniques such as out-of-air scenarios, in-water rescue breathing, and towing techniques. This course is instrumental in preparing you to handle unexpected problems that may arise during a dive.
During the PADI Divemaster Course you'll gain valuable skills and knowledge to lead dives, and assist instructors in teaching new divers. You'll be assigned a mentor during your course, who will work closely with you to build your skills and knowledge, as you work through the program. The Divemaster Course is very self-paced, and we strongly urge our students to take their time and gain as much experience assisting on courses as they can. Most students will take 2-4 months to complete the course
Requirements: 40 logged dives to start the course, and 60 dives to finish
Not only will you become a more confident and skilled diver, but you'll also have access to a network of like-minded individuals who share your passion for scuba diving. This course will turn you into a PADI Professional and get you one step closer to your dream of turning your passion into your career! Many of our students who go through our Divemaster Course go on to work with us and join our Diving Locker Team!
The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is made up of two parts - the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Most dive professionals complete the entire IDC and go on to attend an Instructor Examination (IE), which is the final step to earn a PADI Instructor certification.
Requirements: 60 Logged Dives to start, and 100 logged dives prior to completing the IE
As a PADI Instructor, you have the power to transform lives through the awe-inspiring world of scuba diving. With your highly specialized training and unwavering dedication, you will be poised to guide your students through a world of adventure and discovery. As you equip them with the skills they need to become certified divers, you also instill a profound love and respect for the ocean and its inhabitants. Each day, you have the chance to create experiences that will stay with your students for a lifetime, and inspire them to become advocates for the health of our planet's most vital ecosystem. Embrace this incredible opportunity and dive deep into your passion as a certified PADI Instructor.

If you dive in cold water, you already know the problem: once your hands get cold, your dive is basically over. A proper drysuit glove system solves this by keeping your hands completely dry and insulated—even in near-freezing conditions.
This guide will walk you through exactly how to put together a reliable dry glove system, what components you need, and how to choose the right setup for your diving style.
