Mares Planet 88x TBP Regulator
$1399.95
The Mares Planet 88X TBP Regulator is Mares’ most advanced scuba regulator, delivering Natural Breathing 2.0 with Airmatic Technology – the first second stage without traditional springs. Paired with the cold-water-ready 88X TBP first stage, this set offers effortless airflow, superior reliability, and high performance in any diving condition.
Ideal for divers seeking comfort, innovation, and safety below the surface.
What makes the Mares Planet 88X Regulator performance so outstanding?
The Mares Planet 88X TBP means breathing without restrictions. You won’t feel any cracking effort or mechanical resistance; you’ll simply breathe as if the air were just there. That’s our definition of NATURAL BREATHING 2.0! Another outstanding feature is the consistency of its performance. We’re not talking about a best-case scenario; the Planet delivers the same impressive results dive after dive, in all conditions.
How do you achieve that feeling of NATURAL BREATHING 2.0?
The secret lies in a reinvented valve system:
Mares AIRMATIC – a fully pneumatic valve, with no springs and no old-school mechanics. Instead of breathing against the increasing resistance of a compressed spring, you breathe with the flow. AIRMATIC uses pneumatic force, constant and smooth throughout every inhalation.
How about Reliability?
Reliability, and therefore also safety, are enhanced for three key reasons:
• Upstream Technology: In the event of a malfunction in the first stage that causes the intermediate pressure to rise, a traditional downstream valve will open uncontrollably and begin to freeflow. The resul is an unusable second stage and a potentially critical situation. With AIRMATIC’s upstream design, following an increase in intermediate pressure, the valve closes more. Excess gas is safely released through the overpressure valve on the first stage, so you can keep breathing from the second stage.
• Fewer parts prone to wear: AIRMATIC reduces the number of components in the second stage by more than half! Fewer parts mean fewer potential failure points—and virtually no components are subject to wear. The result? Reliable performance, dive after dive.
• Override Button: In the rare event of a freeflow, you can manually stop it using the integrated Override Button on the second stage.
TBP System
A completely isolated first stage ensures maximum reliability in extreme cold and depths, meeting NORSOK U-101 standards with exceptional pressure responsiveness.
AST Technology
The AST system automatically prevents water entry into the first stage, ensuring reliable performance without diver action, opening when pressurized and closing when not.
VAD Technology
The bypass tube creates a vortex and low-pressure center, aiding diaphragm movement for sensitive, natural breathing performance at all diving depths.
Airmatic Technology
Airmatic replaces springs with a pneumatic valve, delivering the smoothest and most consistent breathing comfort, with minimal resistance and zero mechanical wear.
All-Metal
Mares all-metal second stages use nickel-plated brass for superior heat exchange, resisting icing in cold water, delivering stable breathing, high durability, and reduced dry mouth.
Discover the Mares Planet 88X TBP Regulator, Mares’ most innovative scuba regulator yet – engineered to deliver Natural Breathing 2.0 through cutting-edge Airmatic Technology. For the first time ever, a second stage regulator eliminates traditional springs and replaces them with a purely pneumatic valve, offering a breathing experience so effortless, it’s as if the air is simply there. Whether you’re exploring vibrant coral reefs or diving deep into cold waters, the Planet 88X TBP ensures unmatched comfort, safety, and performance in every breath.
At the heart of the Planet 88X TBP is Airmatic Technology – a revolutionary pneumatic system that minimizes mechanical parts and maximizes reliability. Unlike conventional regulators, this second stage is free from wear-prone springs. Instead, it uses intermediate pressure to control airflow, resulting in natural, resistance-free breathing.
With Mares’ signature VAD – Vortex Assisted Design, airflow remains powerful, direct, and responsive to the diver’s demand – whether exploring shallow reefs or descending into deep, cold wrecks.
The Planet second stage is perfectly paired with the 88X TBP first stage, featuring Mares proven high-performance technologies. With its TBP Dry Kit, the 88X TBP is built for the most demanding dive conditions – from icy depths to silty, sediment-heavy environments.
